Supporting emergent readers

Well I thought it was time I finally posted. I have been using Wizkid quite a bit since my return from maternity leave at the beginning of March. One of my areas of interest is how we can make Wizkid more accessible to non-readers and emergent readers. Did you know you can easily add an mp3 file anywhere where there is the standard text editor by using the repository tool? Mp3s usually play in a media player type frame similarly to flash files. These usually autoplay when you browse to a lesson, section or activity where they have been added. This is a great way to give children instructions on use of the learning platform removing the need to read lots of text. Don't forget Audacity is a great piece of free software that allows you to record sound and export it as mp3 files.
